2010 ICD-9 Library Update

Please read and follow the instructions carefully.
Note: The 2010
ICD-9 Library update will add new diagnosis codes to the Accu-Care
Clinical program through the update file below. You must run
the update from a computer that has access to the Accu-Care database
through the BDE.
It is recommended that you perform
a database backup prior to running the ICD-9 update. It is also recommended that you have all users out of the program. This will allow the update to complete as quickly as possible.

Downloading the update file
Select the link,2010 ICD-9 Library Update found below. You will be downloading a self-extracting zip file (UpdateICD92010.exe) containing the update utility.
From the file download dialog box, you will be asked whether you "Would
like to open/run the file from the web site or save it to your computer?"
(Question will vary depending on your browser version.)
Select "Save." When prompted where
to save the file, select the location for your \Accu-Care directory (usually C:\Accu-Care OR C:\Program Files\Accu-Med\Accu-Care). Press the appropriate button to continue the download and save process.

Installation and running the update file
- From the workstation where you saved the file (this computer must have access to the Accu-Care for Windows software and production database).
- Locate the file UpdateICD92010.exe in the (folder of step 3 in "Downloading the Update") using Windows Explorer.
- Double click on this self-extracting file to launch the WinZip Self-Extractor.
- Confirm the location of the Accu-Care folder (default will be C:\Accu-Care) or browse to find the appropriate Accu-Care folder.
- Select Unzip.
- Select OK and Close to exit the self-extractor.
- Locate the UpdateICD9.exe utility in the Accu-Care folder and double click.
- Select Delete or Preserve (see explanation below).
- Click Update.
- You will be reminded about the database backup recommendation along with the recommendation of having all users out of the program. If you wish to proceed, click "Yes". (Selecting cancel will halt the update).
- The update progress will be displayed on screen.
- You will be prompted when the update is complete, select OK and then click Exit.
Delete or Preserve?
Existing codes are compared with the list of new codes. Any existing code that cannot be matched in the list of new codes is considered to be obsolete. You may elect to DELETE or PRESERVE these obsolete codes. If you elect to DELETE them (recommended), any obsolete code(s) that are NOT attached to resident data will be REMOVED from the list. If you elect to PRESERVE them, the obsolete codes will remain in the list; however, they will be marked as "non-current." All valid codes will be marked as "Library." The status of the code is displayed in the Source column of the Master Diagnosis list used in Accu-Care.
